As of June 2019, the release of TDCJ inmates after parole has been granted has slowed significantly, based on interviews I’ve had with clients and TDCJ parole officers.
The slowdown appears to be mainly due to staff shortages at TDCJ. I hope the bottleneck isn’t permanent, but my sources seem skeptical that the issue will be fixed any time soon.
Dallas County Expungement Expo
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, in cooperation with the Dallas County District Secretary’s Office, has announced its 6th Annual Dallas County Expunction Expo. This exhibition offers people who meet certain criteria the opportunity to have their criminal records erased.
Why is it important? Because an arrest, even for a misdemeanor, can haunt a person for the rest of his life. They can block paid employment, access to schools and universities, prevent people from hiring, and prevent people from joining the military.
What is a criminal offense in Texas?
In Texas, an indictment means you are charged with a felony. This differs from an information or complaint, which are ways to inform you of misdemeanor charges. When you get a Texas indictment, you know you’re being charged with a felony, and you’ll quickly find out what specific felony you were charged with when you were charged.
Not everyone knows the difference between accused and accused. If you are charged with a crime it is a charge that you have committed a crime, usually a misdemeanor. But if you’re charged in Texas, you’re charged with a felony.
Your rights if you are stopped while intoxicated?
Be aware if you are pulled over by an officer after witnessing dangerous driving or another traffic violation. Our attorneys advise clients to remain civil and courteous when dealing with officials.
The following are some of the steps you can take to increase your chances of overcoming a DWI charge:
Politely decline to answer questions. If you admit to drinking or visiting a drinking establishment, the officer will record your response. The San Antonio Attorney may be able to use this information against you, and the court or jury may penalize DWI.
