Voting Certificate
After a person casts their vote, they receive their Voter ID and ballot. All you have to do is show your voter ID to someone for authentication. The process for certifying a ballot is as follows:
- The certifier verifies the identity of the individual using an acceptable form of identification (driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued identification). Keep in mind that some states don’t even ask for ID when a voter shows up to vote.
The justification for using a government-issued ID is that it is a commonly accepted form of identification to convince us (the American people) that we have taken steps to only allow registered voters to vote on this initiative. By law, every adult in the United States must carry a government-issued ID. As we are required to wear this ID there is no reason why we should not use it.
- Using the information from Step 1, the certifier must search the voter’s voter registration to verify that that person is a valid registered voter. The exact procedure for this varies from state to state.
- Once the certifier is satisfied that the individual is who they say they are and is a valid voter, they submit the following information to the public repository:
- The identifier of the Certifier’s
- Voter’s identifier
- The central repository performs a reverse lookup of the voter’s identifier using the above linking table, finds their ballot identifier and marks it as certified
