In addition, users can search the Fulton County Jail inmate list, search for registered sex offenders, and see in real time where they live and if there are offenders in their neighborhood.
Do not pay your deposit
In return, the deposit agent will charge a non-refundable fee. This fee, usually 10 percent of the total deposit and some sort of guarantee, is much less than what you would have to pay out of pocket. Bail offers the defendant the opportunity to be released from custody for a fraction of the full bail amount. The amount of the deposit varies depending on the fee. Many nonviolent offenses have bails as high as $500, with more violent or serious crimes having higher bails. For example, a battery charge may have a $2,500 deposit. If you post bail directly with the court, you would have to pay $2,500 to be released, and many people don’t have the funds to do so. Obtaining the services of a deposit manager would require a non-refundable fee of $250. The bail bond agent then guarantees the bail to the court on behalf of the defendant. If the defendant fails to appear in court, the bail agent must pay the bail in full to the court.
The guarantee is an additional layer of responsibility for the defendant to comply with the release conditions. Unlike the non-refundable fee, we return the security after the defendant’s trial. And when they showed up, they demanded court hearings and paid all financial obligations. But again, this is regardless of whether the accused is found guilty, not guilty, or drops the charges.
